Look for an empty work station, a chair and get ready to go
At Lightbox today (and earlier at Sherpalo) I have seen people join and then move on to pursue their own projects. Over the years it has been fantastic to see people arrive fresh from the Valley, explore opportunities in India and go back to the Valley with a changed perspective. I’ve always kept in touch with my ex-colleagues because they've all played a part in the journey leading up to what Lightbox is today.
It’s a pleasure to see new start-ups at work in our offices. Their passion to learn, the dedication to their ideas and their commitment to working hard gives our workplace an incredible buzz. I learn the most from them. They inspire me to open up to bigger challenges in my own job. The best part of my job has always been helping them set-up their new businesses and move to new offices. It’s bitter-sweet to see a team grow up and go away but I couldn’t be happier or more excited to see them take their businesses to the next level.
Every start-up that’s been here has left a little something behind. Whether it’s a joke that's become legendary or a poster printed for their team, each startup culture has had an impact on our workplace and the kind of VC firm we are today.
It’s about looking for an empty work station, a chair and getting ready to GO!
We have a culture of fundamentally solving problems. We place huge emphasis on speed to market and the power of prototyping. It is almost impossible to get everything right.
Hitendra and I discovered this opportunity through an iterative set of conversations that took place prior to funding the business. It was this deep engagement and exchange of ideas, even before there was an economic incentive that allowed for a strong relationship with an open exchange of ideas to develop.
